And the Oscar goes to...

Good day people,

Today's blog is dedicated to highlighting the talents of an actress who happens to be a member of my iTheater Company...Ms. Donnie Hammond.

First of all let me explain what the iTheater Company is all about. The i stands for "improv". This company is the first cousin of The Headline Theater Company which I created then developed with Bunmi Samuel, but more on that in another blog. Donnie Hammond, along with The iTheater Company will begin a live improv dinner theater, "The Improv Cafe," in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia beginning July 1, 2009. The actors will perform original works based on suggestions from the audience. They will play "Who's Line is it Anyway" style games and include audience members in various skits. This type of weekly show is demanding on the performers and it is important that the actors are spirited, versitile and quick on theri feet.

Ms. Donnie represents the kind of spirited, emotionally depth, creative tripple threat that will make the Improv Cafe a very entertaining weekly experience. Ms. Donnie is a hair stylist by day and an actor-singer-dancer by night. Here is a clip of Donnie performing and improvised one woman show. She had 15 minutes to develope this piece based on the answers to random the audience answered on 3x5 cards. Check out her work...

I thing that Ms. Donnie did an awesome job on this improvised scene. If you would like to see more of her and the rest of the iTheater Company join us every Wednesday beginning July 1 @ Relish 7152 Ogontz Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa 19118 8pm to 10pm admission $10.
